The Retro HTPC by [WP@]WOLVERINE
Project Log: Here
Forum user [WP@]WOLVERINE is one of bit-tech's longest-standing modders, and he's produced more fantastic and wide-ranging projects in the eight years he's been a member than many of us will achieve in lifetime. Standing on this lofty reputation, his latest project looks set to be just as good as his previous ones.
The project is based around a DUX V1351 radio / record player, and the ageing chassis is quickly turning into a very modern media PC, equipped with 8GB of RAM and an SSD. Making an old and dilapidated radio look fit for a home for a modern PC is a tough task but the images below show that [WP@]WOLVERINE has pulled it off quite convincingly with some CNC work.
The custom motherboard tray and side panels make all the difference, and the blending of old and new styles somehow works really well. The inclusion of subtle red lights and a fabulous circles and lines theme looks set to make this a potential winner.
Remember that you can now vote for several projects, but if Retro HTPC is one of your favourites, then head over to our
forum to vote for it.
That's all for this month! We'll be back next month with 2011's final edition of Mod of the Month, with Mod of the Year just around the corner. Stay tuned.
